This month we had the pleasure of sitting down with Aidan Ball, Director of Construction for MOD Developments. Aidan is responsible for overseeing the construction process for the Massey Tower. His excitement for the project was on full display throughout the interview. It’s inspiring to see someone with such passion for quality design and innovation leading the project.

Aidan graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Engineering. He has over 8 years of experience managing the construction of condominiums. Aidan’s list of responsibilities at The Massey Tower is quite extensive. From managing the budgets and schedules, to overseeing construction and City approvals, he is charged with the task of ensuring all aspects of construction are coordinated and synchronized.

FAVOURITE PART OF MASSEY TOWER?
I actually have a few favourite parts of the Massey Tower:
First, the integration of the heritage Bank of Commerce and the restoration of both the millwork and mosaic floor.
Second, is the innovation of the fully automated parking system.
And third, are the complexities of building such a large project on such a small footprint in downtown Toronto.

FAVOURITE MASSEY HALL MOMENT:
Unfortunately, I have not yet experienced a show at Massey Hall, but it’s definitely on the bucket list; especially with the current expansion underway.

GORDON LIGHTFOOT OR RUSH?
Gordon Lightfoot. My wife and I had our first dance to his song “Beautiful” at our wedding.

WINE & CHEESE OR BEER & PRETZELS?
Summer time is beer & pretzels; wintertime is wine & cheese. Fall and spring can get a bit confusing.

MOTTO :
There is always a lesson to be learned from every situation and experience. Leave the bad behind and move forward with the good.

Thanks for reading and look out for our next “Quick 5” in June.
